Wired remote of CD changer no longer working?
I have a Sony CDX-454RF 10 CD changer installed in my car. It’s the kind that sends the audio through your FM radio. It has worked fine for several years, but a few weeks ago the wired remote stopped displaying anything anymore and will no longer play the CDs. It still has power because I can hit eject and have the magazine come out, and when I put it back in it makes noises like it’s doing something but when I try to hit buttons on the wired remote nothing happens. I’ve tried unplugging all the wires and plugging them back in to see if it was a loose connection or something with no luck. I’ve also hit the reset button and that does nothing. Replacement remotes are over since it’s discontinued. Any ideas?

Common problem with wired remotes is that some of the wires inside the cable that goes into the remote will break. This will usually happen where the cable makes a sharp bend going into the remote. A repair shop should be able to cut back the cable to repair.
